Nature-Inspired Coastal Oasis in Park Shore

Project: L Design Studio
Location: Naples, FL
Room: Living Room, Dining Room, Kitchen, Bedroom

In Naples, FL’s Park Shore neighborhood, this modern organic residence by L Design Studio unfolds through material and light rather than contrast. Featured in Florida Design Magazine, the team’s vision of organic shapes, abundant natural light, and warm materials reflects a more grounded approach to coastal living . Wide plank European white oak flooring in Silvian – Taivas runs throughout, introducing a cool, soft-toned base that supports the layered interior.

Material as the Driving Force

Rather than relying on bold color shifts, the design builds depth through contrast in material. Wood, stone, linen, clay, and rattan are layered against glass, metal, and polished surfaces, creating variation that feels intentional rather than styled.

“Texture is key to balancing clean, modern lines with the warmth and richness of natural elements,” explains designer Julie Howlett in the Florida Design Magazine feature.

This interplay is especially visible in the main living areas, where a European white oak fireplace surround mirrors the flooring, creating a continuous, textural focal point.

A Palette Drawn from the Surrounding Florida Landscape

Throughout the Naples home, the palette pulls directly from its coastal environment with sandy beige, muted greens, and deep accents. The result, as Howlett describes in the magazine article is “a calming, familiar palette that remains dramatic enough to set the design apart.”

She continues,“I emphasized nature-inspired greens balanced with a soft neutral foundation, creating a calming, familiar palette that remains dramatic enough to set the design apart.

“It’s a fresh take on a modern coastal oasis.”

In spaces like the living room and kitchen, natural light is carefully considered, aligned through windows and interior openings to move across surfaces and highlight shifts in tone and texture.

Flooring as a Constant

Silvian – Taivas carries through the Park Shore residence as a consistent material thread beneath the organic palette. Its low-sheen surface absorbs light rather than reflecting it sharply, allowing the stone, linen, and wood details to take focus. At the perimeter, where light is strongest, the oak takes on a lighter, almost sun-washed tone. Deeper inside, it settles into a cooler, more saturated hue that shapes the space through light rather than contrast.

By focusing on material, light, and proportion, the home achieves a balance that feels intentional, where each element contributes to a layered, livable interior rooted in its Naples setting.
