Environmental stewardship through intelligently designed floors

As Shepherd's Field completed houses 4, 5 and 6 the RWF team showed up in April and laid 3,000sqft of 3 1/4" Walnut flooring throughout each home. After a couple of sluggish, jet-lagged days we kicked things in gear and completed all 9,000sqft in 6 days. This gave us some free time to play with the kids and see some of the sights before coming home. After each completed floor, Josh Hall from Hall Hardwood Floors insisted we shoot off celebratory fireworks.

As Shepherd's Field expanded the facility to include a school and a cafeteria the RWF team headed back in January to tackle these new projects. An additional 8,500sqft of flooring went into the project. The school was fitted with 3 1/4" Red Oak flooring that was custom finished natural in a UV-oil and the cafeteria received a 3 1/4" Red oak floor that was custom stained black and UV-oiled. With a little larger crew we completed the installation in 5 days and spent the rest of the time playing with the kids and braving the frigid cold on top of the Great Wall.

In April we finally went back and completed the "original" project we had committed to which was tearing out the old bamboo floors that were improperly fitted and installing 8,000sqft 3 1/4" Walnut in the original 3 houses. This was our largest project with 23 participants. Trip highlights were enjoying playing with the kids outside as we had great weather. Trip lowlight was the bathroom at the Chuar restaurant in Langfang.
