    Is Engineered Flooring Real Wood?

    Often individuals ask,“Is engineered flooring real wood?”  The answer is simple, “Yes it is.”  Engineered wood flooring consists of layered tiers of real wood pressed together to form a structure that has the same beauty of solid wood flooring, while allowing an ease in installation and stability. The real wood surface layer is available in many different wood types, designs and finishes, and is also available in many different thicknesses.

    During the manufacturing process at Real Wood Floors, the layers of real timber run in different directions meaning it is more dimensionally stable than solid wood, but identical to solid wooden flooring in appearance, beauty and quality.  In addition, because Real Wood Floors environmental policies, all hardwoods used in the manufacturing process are procured in a sustainable manner.  At Real Wood Floors is aware of the obligations of being sustainable, and recycling waste products to protect the environment.

    Another benefit of Engineered floors is that it will take on the ambient heat within the room.  Engineered flooring is warm to the touch unlike tile, ceramic or natural stone floors which can also become cold in winter months. And for those with allergies, due to the closed joints between the boards, there’s nowhere for dust to accumulate. Unlike carpet,dust mites and other allergy-causing organisms cannot survive on clean wood floors and this will help you protect your home from allergens.

    Finally, care of your engineered floor is relatively straightforward, it takes no more maintenance than any other floor. Rugs in high traffic areas, door mats by external doors to assist in keeping shoes free from debris, and cutting down on the amount of dirt and other foreign objects by regularly sweeping is highly recommended.  Occasionally cleaning the floor with a high quality cleaner, like the ones provided by Bona, is also recommended to remove dust that can also wear on the finish of the floor over time.
